ALEXANDRIA
Founded by Alexander the great, Alexandria became the capital of Egypt during the Greco Roman period.
Alexandria was also home of one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Excursion from Cairo
After breakfast, a full sightseeing tour of Alexandria starts with the Greco Roman Museum, which contains artifacts that give you a picture of the grandeur of Alexandria in its Greek and Roman days.
You will also visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa where the tombs are distinctly Romanesque but the sculpture and relief are of Egyptian gods, and the recently excavated Roman Amphitheaters, and then on to Pompeys Pillar which was erected in honour of the Emperor Diocletian.
Return trip to Cairo then overnight at hotel.
